TOUCH In 2003, Grammar had its largest and most successful Touch season Yet, in only its third Year at this School. Touch is the fastest growing sport at Brisbane Girls Grammar School; this Year we fielded three new teams to bring the total up to eight teams, the most the school has fielded so far, and if the interest at the trials is any indication, Touch will continue to expand and improve at a startling pace. Every one of the eight teams won a game this Year, perhaps for some, a much greater achievement than others, most notably the 8B team who were Grammar Touch's first ever premiers. Although they had a shaky start to the season, with trials and training interrupted by rain, the ability and enthusiasm of the two Year Eight teams often left the senior teams in awe. These two teams were chosen from by far the largest contingent of any grade, and showed that the future of BGGS Touch was in safe hands. Coach Dean 51ade led the 8As to a fourth placing, In a season that was characterised by a lot of fun and food as well as hard work. The 8Bs, coached by Kelly Saunders, have left the school in no doubt of their promising future, winning Grammar's first Touch premiership The two senior teams returned to Touch this Year, a little more experienced and with some lofty goals in mind. Over the season, these girls were always very enthusiastic and showed teamwork that belied the fact that as they are from two
different grades, many girls were playing with others they had barely known before Touch. These girls, especially the few who have played every one of the three seasons Grammar has offered, learned a great deal. Although they might not have posted too many wins Ithe Opens had their first win in two Years and the Senior As recovered from a shaky start to double that number in their one season), all the girls worked hard for their achievements.
