TENNIS Playing hard. eating our famous morning teas. cheering, laughter, fun and tears - they are all part of a typical Grammar Tennis season and everyone wanted to be part of it in 2003. Perhaps it was due to our sparkling new uniforms, or perhaps the tremendous spirit for which the Brisbane Girls Grammar School players are renowned. We may never really know, but the knowledge that Grammar lost several of its top tennis players in 2002, made the girls decide to band together in 2003, as any true 'team' would The season got off to a great start with the annual tennis cam , held at Novotel Twin Waters. it was apparent from this cam that the players could look forward to the season with optimism and the 2003 team would indeed be a very competitive unit. As in previous seasons, Brisbane Girls Grammar School had enou h players to field two additional teams in aGSSSA Year Ten and Senior B divisions. The Senior B (ii) Team, as they were called, included players from Years Nine and Eight, which makes their achievement of sharing equal fourth place with the other Senior B team even more noteworthy The Secondary Schools Knockout Tournament was reborn this ear and, with the 2000 Grammar Open team as the defending State Champions, we were very excited to re-enter. With a bye in the first round, Brisbane Girls Grammar School drew St Rita's in the regional semi-final. Grammar won this match convincing Iy after some first match jitters. Clayfield College proved to be a formidable team and were worthy regional champions. We gave it our best shot but unfortunately went down to this very experienced team However, in aGSSSA, seven out of the nine Grammar teams laced in the top four in their respective divisions Tessa Millman Captain
