E Q U E S T RIAN The Equestrian season is a long one, from the camp in January to the State Championships in October. With the loss of many experienced riders last Year, the Equestrian team for 2003 included a number of inexperienced competitors. However with expert coaching, commitment and several training camps, the skills of these riders continued to improve. Most riders performed well above expectations and "personal bests" were a feature of the season. For the past four years, Brisbane Girls Grammar School has won the aueensland State Champion Equestrian School trophy This Year the competition was challenging and the long season of fifteen events CUIminated in Grammar achieving first place in the More ton Bay College Showjumping Day competition The State Equestrian Championships were held in Warwick and Toowoomba. The team performed with application and dedication placing third in the One Day Event and sixth in the Combined Training, Dressage, and Hacking events. These results led to the unexpected but jubila ntly received announcement that Brisbane Girls Grammar School had been awarded, for the fifth successive Year, the trophy for Champion Equestrian School. A well-earned tribute to the consistency and dedication of the riders and their horses Kathryn Barr and Sarah Dejahaye Captains
