FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The Brisbane Girls Grammar School Magazine has a long history of recording enrolments and tabling annual achievements by students across the academic, co- curricular, coinmu nity and social spectrum. However, there is much more contained in these bound volumes than mere archival information and documentation. The pages of our magazine resonate with the life and spirit of this great School through its images and words. The emotions of our girls are captured in a way that portrays the essence of what our School values most highly: active involvement, friendship, enjoyment and effort. These are the important qualities to be highlighted and recorded in a publication that has the primary purpose of representing the student body's Year in review. The Year 125 have reflected these sentiments in their 2003 theme: Be in in Led by the Head Girls, they have promoted the ideas of community, challenge, change and connections. What commendable goals to have and what marvellous success they have had! Lauren Harrison and Jessica Rothnie must be congratulated on their personal drive to activate these ideas and I thank them warmly for their leadership and support this Year. Together with their peers they have recognised the need to work together and they will leave behind them innumerable concrete and intangible legacies marking their special initiatives and impact upon the life and history of the School. This is a place where initiative is applauded. This is not a School about conformity or rigidity in expectation or outcomes. Rather we encourage our girls to invent imaginative solutions to complex problems and to approach new challenges with enthusiasm and zeal. How else can we as educators expect these Young women to effect considered contribution and improvement in the world? Given the calibre and confidence of Year 12 as they approach their future beyond Girls Grammar, I am secure in the knowledge that
