1985 NETBALL REPORT The 1985 Winter Fixture season began a week after the inaugural B.G.G .S. Netball Camp at Pioneer Park, Tweed Heads. The camp was designed to improve our standard of play before our first game against St Margarets, and to allow all girls from Grade 8 to the A Grade to get to know one another. This venture was very successful in both ways and hopefully it shall continue in the future, especially the three kilometre jogs!! Our first game against St. Mar~aret' s proved how motivating the camp had been, but unfortunately a week later, our lack of match-play shone through when we clashed with St Peters'. However, our later games against St Hilda's, Ipswich Grammar, Clayfield College, St Aidan's, and Moreton Bay College, proved to be successful! overall. Our last two games proved to be the most competitive. Sommerville House produced some unexpected wins, whilst State High battled with the A Grade t come out just on top. B Grade clashed with State High in a premiership deciding match, and gained the premiership with a one goal margin. Other results are as follows-

I would like to thank Mrs Harvey-Short for her organisation of the camp, and her coaching of the 8A and B Grade teams; Nancy Collins, for her dedication to the 9A's; Mrs Woodford, for her time and patience in coaching the 9B's; Amanda Leeson and Annabel Wilson for the energy they put into. the C and D Grades, and last, but not least, our beloved " Macka" , julie McMillan, for her utter resourcefulness in managing to devise so many "fun" drills for us A Graders to do on cold winter mornings!! Special mention must go to our supportive parents who drove us to early morning trainings, and who urged us on during our games. Thank-you very much . I would like to thank all teams for the effort they put into this season, and Good Luck to all Grammar Netballers in the future.
Sue Batstone
A special thank you must go to Sue as Captain of the Sport and as coach of the 8B. The time and effort spent during the season in organisation and coaching was most impressive. She is an impressive role-model to our netballers and future captains.
