WATER POLO REPORT 1984-85 SEASON

This season was once again a very successful one for Grammar. In every age group, the"!\' Grade teams reached semi-final level at least, with three of the four teams playing in the grand finals. Th e under-14 season was quite short- finishing in December last year. Unfortunately, experience let th em down and they lost to St Pete r's in the final. The Under 16 and under 18 teams came third and second respectively, both very promising resu Its for future teams. The Open "B" Grade team was undefeated throughout the season, but unfortunately was beaten in the final by the University team - which is mostly comprised of "Old Grammar' ' girls! We were lucky to have so many girls se lected in rep resentative teams once again this year. The teams ranged from Brisbane under-16 to th e Australian Open Women's Team, in which three old girls from Grammar were selected - Amanda Leeson, Kati e McAdam and Debbie Handley.

We extend our congratulations to Katie McAdam, B.G.G.S. 1977- 1.981, for being named Sportswoman of the Year (1985). She serves as a great inspirat ion to our current players and we wish her luck for her future competitive years. The season would not have been half the success it was without the help of th e committee and coac hes. Saturday fixtures for Grammar would not exist, if it were not for the handful of parents who spent their Saturdays at Musgrave Pool. To our coaches- a big thank you for the many hours in time and effort you put in during the year. The season was a very enjoyable one and I wish Vicci Shaw and the teams the best of luck next season, and I hope Vicci you get as much out of the Grammar Club as I have.
