Card and Games Evening: Friday 14th June was the· n1ght chosen for a Card and Games .Evening but unfortunate- ly thi s was not the best of dates as it happened to be a long week-end and attendance was poo r as a result. Those who did attend enjoyed the evening and we hope a similar event in 1958 will be more successful. Jumble Sale: A Jumble Sale was conducted in All Saint's Hall on Friday 2nd August and was a financial success as over £17 was collected for the Library Fund . Those who helped on the day learned a tremendous amount about human nature and our thanks are due ' to the members of the Parents ' & Friends ' Association for their able assistance. Sthool Day: This was the most important function of the year and was held at School on Saturday 14th September. A very large attendance resulted from the changed arrangements with parents, friends and present girls swell- ing the numbers . It also seemed that a large number ot Old Girls attended . The result of the afternoon 's efforts was £175 which went to the Library Fund. It has been s uggested that similar functions be held in future years. President's "At Home": Arrangements have been made to ho ld this function at Coolden on Wednesday 27th Novem - ber. Owing to exam . time tables it is not poss ible to have the use of the School this year. SCHOOL L1 BRARY REPORT It is with great pleasure that we have to report that it would seem that our efforts to have the Library erected and furnished as a complete building free of debt will be rewarded earl y next year. Tenders were called for the erection of the building and the Trustees have advised that the completed cost should not exceed £8500. As the sum o f £6000 has been raised during the past five years and a Government Subsidy of 40 per cent . o f the cost of the build - ing has been promised it is safe to assume that our objective has been reached . The Building should be completed ready for the Opening Ceremony by June 1958. By the date of the next Annual Meeting it should be possible to make plans for this great day . Our sincere thanks are expressed to al l those who have helped to make this dream come true. PRIZES 1956 Old Girls ' Prizes were awarded in 1956 to Helen Ling , (Highest Average , Fourth Form) , Nanette Buchanan and Janice Zimitat (Art, Sixth Form ). The Annie Mackay Bursary for 1956 was won by Penelope Rogers . I TENNIS CLUB NOTES This club resumed play in February th is year with an increased membership enrolled at the A.G.M.
