One of the Royal Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace was attended by JILL BURNETT, MERLE GYNTHER, and DIONE THATCHER during their tour abroad. Thanks are extended to MRS . J . A. COCHRANE , Pres- ident of the Parents ' and Friends ' Association for her help and co-operation during the past two years .

QUEENSLAND GIRLS' SECONDARY SCHOOL CLUB NOTES This Club has been sharing the rooms of the Overseas League in Eagle Street this year, having the use of the rooms for its own purposes the second Tuesday each month . These meetings have been well attended and some interesting functions have been held. The Club members have the right to use the facilities of morning and afternoon tea and luncheon and at present also have the right to join a special Air Charter Flight by Super Constellation to London and return leaving Sydney on 21st May 1958 returning 18 th September 1958 . Miss Gwen Nevill , one of our delegates , was appointed a Vice President of the Club at its last Annual Meeting . ITEMS OF INTEREST MISS L. CROOKS was entertained at Afternoon Tea by the Old Girls' Committee prior to her departure overseas . She hopes to return in time for commencement of the School year in 1958 . During her absence MISS M. A. MACMILLAN has been Acting Head Mistress and we must thank her for her co-operation in all Old Girls' activities . Our Vice President MISS JAN WACKER became MRS . JOHN BELL in August . Congratulations and Best Wishes were extended to her by the Committee at supper following a meeting held at Mrs. Bain's residence in July . We are sorry to have to report that MISS JAN HOFF- MAN the other Vice President found it ' necessary to resign from this position during the year as she left Brisbane for the North. The position was not filled and Mrs. Bell was our only Vice President for the last six months . Another wedding of interest was that of BETTY BAN- NISTER to JOHN DAY in April . Betty was Treasurer of the Association last year and after her marriage she and John left for England for at least two years. AVIS WOOD has spent a considerable part of this year in hospital but has gone on to win further prizes for her weaving in the Brisbane Exhibition. We learn she is home again now and wish her better health in the future . CLAIRE MINCHIN took up her duties in charge of the Oral Deaf School this year and has been very busy. Best wishes and congratulations to her for the fine work she is doing . 54
