Lynette Phillips, Marilyn Bryant. Each debutante was presented with a lipstick holder as a memento of the evening and during supper the Debutante Cake iced in the form of the School Badge, was cut by Mrs . McLucas . We thank sincerely the Combined Ball Committee Secre- taries, Mr. John Berry and Miss Fay Muir, for their efforts in arranging the ball and Mrs. T. G. Bain and Miss B. Lansbury for the time they spent training the debutantes . Although we consider the Ball Committee which comprised representatives from both Associations , namely, Messrs. A. Eadie,. (President of O.B.A), J . Steele, J. BerrY, C. Bell, Mrs. T . G. Bain, Misses F. Muir , J. Wacker , and M. O'Connell , made a wonderful social success of the evening, we feel that under the present financial position, Balls will no longer be a source of revenue to the Association. Numbers attending remain between 450 and 500 over the past few years , but each year our costs. are heavier and inevitably the price of tickets will have to be increased if we are not to make a loss . Mr. A. Eadie, arr""nged a pre-ball party for official guests at Fairview and enabled those in the official party to meet one another before the ball. Our thanks go to Mr. Eadie for his kindness as the party certainly helped in making the ball the success it was. FAIR This was our Fair year and once again we combined with the Old Boys' Association , the Parents and Friends' Associations. of both Schools, staff and present pupils and held the Grammar Fair in the grounds of the Boys' School on Saturday, 15th Sep- tember, 1956. Thanks to the convenorship of Col. H. Harris, the Fair Committee, comprising representatives from all branches of the school activities, worked long and enthusiastically to make the Fair a splendid success. At the time of writing we are not cer- tain of the actual net proceeds our Association will receive but are confident it will not be less than £950. This, of course, will be added to the LibrarY Fund. We have to thank the following persons for their help as convenors and entertainers: Mrs. J. Cochrane~Afternoon Tea. Mesdames Powell, Todd, Stenders and Mis s Munro-Sweets . Mesdames Martin and Rasby-Cakes.

Mrs. McKennan-Snack Bar. Mesdames Beaver and Loutitt-Jams and Pickles. Miss B. Lansbury-Dolls. Misses Toft and Cossins-Dips. Mesdames Bain, Machin and Baird-Variety. Messrs. Steele and Mills-Toys. Mr. Marshall-Mannequin Parade. Mr . Thomas-Dance. Mr. Hubbard-Drinks and Ice Cream. Mr. Becconsall-Amusements . Mr. Walker-Grounds. Moreton Bay Game Fish Club, Underwater Research Group of Queensland and Cobb & Co. We would also like to thank the present girls who dressed dolls for the Dolls Stall during their vacation. The dolls were really worth seeing when they were completed . DANCE AT MILTON In March, a dance was arranged by Miss Maureen O'Connell and a committee of Old Girls and held at the Milton Tennis Hall. It was a very pleasant evening and resulted in £30 being added to the Library Fund. LIBRARY BUILDING FUND We are pleased to report that the position ?f the Libra~y Fund is very satisfactorY. The Trustees have g1ven £1600 m cash and Treasury Bonds to the face value of £2800 and .we have £16 on hand . In addition the Trustees have been advised that a subsidy of £4000 has been granted by the State Treasury to- wards the cost of the building. Draft sketch plans have been approved by the Department .of Public ~orks and now d~tailed plans are being prepared by the Archite.cts for the. calhng of tenders. When the proceeds of the Fair· are received, there should be approximately £9350 available and this ";'il~ me~n that it should be possible to complete the actual bmldmg m one operation instead of the first two envisaged. Further monies will be necessary to furnish and equip the library and we will still be asking for help for some time to come. It is really a matter for congratulation that the position is as far advanced as it is and we must thank everyone concerned for their generous help. Mrs. S. Elms-Flowers . Mr. Groom-Produce.
