YEAR 10 — JOURNEYS
NOOSA RIVER JOURNEY Marrapatta was a very enjoyable experience for both myself and I know everyone else. Although the physical challenges were at times hard, it paid off with some spectacular views and experiences. Whether it was waking up at 4 am to soon face an amazing sunrise or capsizing and dealing with wet clothes, the positive attitudes of everybody made our programme a very enjoyable experience. It was great to end the last Marrapatta journey on a high note and was definitely my favourite among the other programmes. VICTORIA HOGAN (10W) MARY VALLEY MULTI JOURNEY If there was one word to describe Year 10 at Marrapatta, it would be bittersweet. The programme was filled with such happy and joyful memories that will stick with me for the rest of my life. However, thinking that it was my last time at Marrapatta, made me sad, and wishing I was able to be back in Year 8 and repeat it all again. The serenity of watching the sunrise from my hammock in the morning, and being able to reflect on how lucky I am that I have the chance to experience wonderful things like this, really made my time at Marrapatta worthwhile and fulfilling. Money could never buy the experience that I have had at Marrapatta, and it is something that I will remember forever. HANNAH LEVITT (10O) I am not typically a Marrapatta girl but this was definitely the best programme I’ve been on. Hopefully your group is as positive and fun as mine. My best advice, no matter what part of the journey you are at, is to just make the most of it — you would rather have five days of fun than complaining! Hammocks are a cool experience and comfortable too. Make sure you challenge yourself when choosing where you go, but know your limits so you can also enjoy it. CHLOE MCCORMACK (10M)
NOOSA TRAILS JOURNEY My choice for the Marrapatta Journeys programme was bike riding. We embarked on a three-day bike-riding journey on the Noosa Trails, and overall it was an incredibly rewarding experience. There were so many amazing moments that our group shared together, and we all now have a strong bond like no other. Some parts were definitely challenging, like cycling up those hills, but there was nothing like the reward of standing at the top of the mountain and admiring the beautiful views ... and eating muffins. It taught me how to stay positive in difficult situations, I learned to laugh at myself (especially after falling off my bike into the third mud puddle of the day) appreciating the present moment you’re in and not worrying too much. Overall, I had a really great time on the Journeys programme, and I know you will too! NINA PANAYOTOV (10R) I did the Noosa Trails (Bike-riding) Journey and it was the best time I have ever had. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and I believe that it was the journey that suited me best. I learned so much, from how to cook good trangia pancakes to being more thoughtful for others around me. My favourite moments were going down the scary single tracks and reaching the peak of Mt Cooroora with the lovely people I spent the week with. I loved the journey and the people so much and it makes me extremely sad that it was our last programme as a cohort. PHOEBE GRIFFIN (10W) This year, we were able to choose a journey that suited or challenged us the best. We chose the Noosa Trails Journey which consisted of bike riding and hiking. For us, the five-day experience was one to remember and many memories were made. Though it may have been challenging for many of us, we all worked together to ensure we had a remarkable week, not to mention the incredible support from the staff that joined us. The journey allowed us to become more independent yet still reliant on others when we needed it. By the end of the week we were all sad to leave Marrapatta and didn’t want the journey to end.
