YEAR 8 — DISCOVERY

I had an amazing week. It was a fun experience canoeing and standing on the rock which was super slippery. I enjoyed my time at Marrapatta and have learned many things about positivity and adventures around Marrapatta. I can’t wait until next year for Year 9 camp. GRACE MAK (8L)

Even with the rain, our class managed to encourage each other, stay positive and think of others, which is reflected in our summary. I really enjoyed the camp out as it provided some girls with something that they won’t get outside of school. I felt a real connection to the environment and also with my class. Marrapatta was a wonderful experience! LINDA KOORTS (8M)

YEAR 9 — INTERDEPENDENCE

I really enjoyed Marrapatta this year. It provided me with countless challenges such as the high ropes, especially considering my fear of heights. The two-night campout was a step up from Year 8 and it was fun to experience two nights with my core class and in such a friendly environment. Our class really bonded, as we all became interdependent and connected through the challenges and obstacles we had to overcome. Overall, the Year 9 Interdependence Programme was very worthwhile and it formed friendships and bonds between our class that we didn’t have before. GRACE BURKE (9R)

At Marrapatta my class participated in a variety of activities that pushed us to our limits. Looking into depth on the idea of interdependence and how our class can coordinate in a way that everyone is using their strengths to accomplish the final target. Throughout the week we completed a high ropes course, rode a bike and canoed. We all had to trust each other in the high ropes course as we relied on the belayers and on our other team members to make us all feel safe and the bike ride saw us all striving to accomplish that final hill. Working together on the canoe journey we found that a few people were falling behind but our class encouraged and supported the last few until we all reached the end. I really enjoyed this programme as our class bonded as we worked together and we were able to make friends that we did not have at the start. NADIA ROBERTSON (9L)
