YEAR 9 MULTIMEDIA AND INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

This year in Multimedia and Interactive Technologies (MIT) there has been a strong focus on design, particularly in the context of games design. In Semester 1 we created physical and virtual board game components. We used the Adobe Creative Cloud applications to design graphics and SketchUp to 3D print physical game pieces. The design brief allowed us to make our own unique gaming concepts and we thoroughly enjoyed playing each other’s board games. Each member of our class completed a peer review and an evaluation. In Semester 2 we continued on the theme of gamification and created a computer game, using a program called Tynker. Tynker helped us learn some foundational coding in Python and JavaScript. The games were created for young children and were based around teaching them how to do something. This was a more challenging task, but was also rewarding when the different stages of the game were completed. Overall, MIT this year has been a very enjoyable and rewarding subject that will be exciting to continue in the future. GIA CAYAS (9G)

YEAR 10 MULTIMEDIA AND INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

This year, MIT has given students a realisation of how far we can go with technology in the real world. Through our UX/UI project, we were able to create our own brands and products, using industry standard software from creating logos in Adobe Photoshop, to creating our own apps on Adobe XD. The project was split into two parts — design and development — to which, over time, we developed our own branding pitch and project idea to provide a solution for a current world issue. It enabled us to overcome challenges in design and development, but most evidently success from our final ideas. The teamwork aspect was very rewarding as we were able to work together to combine our ideas to form an even better product. Teamwork was crucial as the development of such a skill will be applied to a professional working environment in the future. Our team project was entered into the Young ICT Explorers competition, from which we gained great insight into the world of technology that is left to explore and develop. We may not realise it but technology is a big part of our lives and reflecting on this project and what we all developed, the possibilities are endless. Our learnings in digital technologies this year has broadened our minds to what is out there to explore for this area. The Young ICT Explorers competition certainly gave us an idea of the great minds we have coming from the next generation that will revolutionise our world. This influence, from teachers and real-world projects, has increased our confidence for future outlooks in technology in the future.
