Outdoor Education Marrapatta Seniors

The Marrapatta Seniors program is a wonderful opportunity for Year 10 girls to return to Marrapatta with a Year 7 class as leaders and ‘older sisters’. As seniors, we had the invaluable chance to bond with, and get to know, the younger girls of our House. We were able to provide our personal insights and experiences. Taking on the role of a Marrapatta Senior taught us the value of compassion and leadership, something that we can carry with us as we enter the senior school. Seeing the Year 7s thrive over the course of the week was an amazing experience and allowed us to experience

Marrapatta in a way that we hadn’t before. Molly Lynch (10M), Jemima Roach (10M) and Claudia Wallwork (10M)

The opportunity to be a Marrapatta Senior has been an unforgettable experience. Interacting with the younger girls on a ‘sister-like’ level is something we all cherish. Spending a week with the Year 7 girls alongside fellow seniors allowed us to forge new connections and strengthen our friendships, despite the challenges we faced together. For us seniors, after a long and demanding term filled with assessments, immersing ourselves in nature and stepping into a ‘big sister’ role was a reminder to pause, be present, and appreciate the little things that truly matter: a smile; a laugh; and above all, friendship. The best advice we can offer future leaders is to embrace discomfort and challenges, stay true to yourself and your values, and cherish the time spent supporting the girls while reflecting on your own Girls Grammar journey. Whilst it is true that your patience will be tested, both as a student and a senior, the invaluable life skills gained from embracing these challenges are lessons we will always treasure.
