Father and Daughter Dinner

The annual Father and Daughter Dinner, celebrating the special bond between fathers and their daughters, took place at the Royal International Convention Centre on Thursday 13 June. Deputy Principal, Dr Bruce Addison, started off the event with AI-generated Taylor Swift poetry praising the virtues of this bond. This was followed by an entertaining and highly skilled vocal performance from Encore as delicious meals were served. President of the Fathers' Group, Dr Alan Duffield, spoke about his time as a Grammar father, and his words resonated deeply with many attendees. Soon, tensions rose during the hotly anticipated and highly competitive trivia competition hosted by current English teacher and Grammar Woman, Ms Kathryn Talbot (2008). Whilst hard fought, the girls' team—Astrid Coates (12L), Brooke Fewster (12W), Ava Myers (12W), and Dorothy Rae (12G)—ultimately clinched victory with a final score of 17 to 12 off the back of Taylor Swift’s cats and knowing the home of the Lamington. We are grateful to our Fathers Team: Mr Doug Logan, Mr Andrew Pollock, Mr Stephen Uhr and Mr Adam Hill for their participation. The evening concluded with emotive closing remarks from our Head Girls and the drawing of raffle prizes. Brooke Fewster (12W)
