Interhouse Athletics Carnival
The Interhouse Athletics Carnival, held on 1 October, was an extremely successful and enjoyable day, filled with energy, spirit, and enthusiasm. After the carnival was rained out earlier in the year, it was obvious that all the girls were keen to get out on the track and show off their talent. From the 100m Finals to the Staff-Student Relay, the energy at QSAC was undeniable and every girl contributed to the electric, supportive and competitive atmosphere that truly embodied the BGGS spirit. On the day, only a couple points separated the winning Houses. Congratulations to Lilley House, who emerged victorious for a second year in a row, winning the most aggregate House points, followed closely by Griffith and Woolcock House. Special mention must also go to Hirschfeld House who took gold in the exciting Staff-Student Relay.
On an individual level, a congratulations must go to the athletes who won age champion: Rosamund Skene (7L) and Elin Tan (7H) (12 years), Ella Dorey (7H) (13 years), Haley Pope (9R) (14 years), Saskia Barry (10R) (15 years), Carissa Graham (10W) and Zoe McElwaine (11G) (16 years), and Ava Myers (12W) (+17 years). The overall Athletics Champion—most individual points—was awarded to Saskia Barry (10R). The day could not have been successful without the help of the amazing staff, and thanks must go to Ms Euler Welsh for her support of the event, as well as Ms Jane Gooden, Ms Cathy Taylor, and everyone else who contributed on the day—it made our 2024 Interhouse Athletics a day to remember. Ava Myers (12W), Audrey McCauley (12G) and Luxe Godfrey-Asseraf (12M)
