The Interhouse Choir Competition is considered one of the best, and most important battles for House points in the year; an afternoon filled with amazing actions, hypnotic harmonisation, and above all, House spirit through the performance of contemporary classics. What does it take to win Interhouse Choir? Well, as the Interhouse Choir Captains of the 2024 winning house, Hirschfeld, we can tell you all about it. Two weeks of Term 2 are spent in rigorous rehearsal learning lyrics, dance moves, and selecting soloists. Then, we take to the stage with smiles, spirit, and above all, incredible singing. This year, Hirschfeld brought a unique twist to the competition, performing Queen’s classic, Somebody to Love . Interhouse Choir Competition We incorporated intricate harmonies, showcasing our House’s versatility, creativity, and spirit. The guest adjudicator, Ms Tori Longdon, was particularly impressed with our risk taking and energetic performance, providing thorough feedback to all Houses involved. Each House brought their A-game with hits such as Unwritten (Mackay), and Viva La Vida (O’Connor). Interhouse Choir isn’t just about the winning, it is about the House spirit and final performance which showcases the effort and hard work each girl puts in.
