Rhythmic Gymnastics

The 2024 Rhythmic Gymnastics season was a great success marked with several key events: holiday training; Open Day performances; a practice competition at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School; and finally, the QGSSSA competition on Friday 2 August. This year, the gymnasts were fortunate enough to watch the Australian Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics team perform at two of these events before they headed to Paris for the 2024 Olympics. It was an honour to witness the artistry and skill of the Olympic team, and it inspired the gymnasts as they worked towards their final performance at the QGSSSA competition. Another great contributor to our success this season was the guidance of our dedicated coordinator, Mrs Anna O’Gorman, and the choreography and coaching expertise from our head coach, Anya Tabolkina. The QGSSSA competition was filled with spirit and enthusiasm from everyone involved, and the team performed exceedingly well with many of our 21 performances placing in the top three. A special mention must go to the Year 7 Ball Team ii who achieved first place. As Captains, we are incredibly proud of the girls’ efforts this season and are grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of such an enthusiastic and dedicated team. Rock Climbing

As the coordinators of Rock Climbing at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, we are continually impressed by the way this activity enriches our students' lives. Rock Climbing is more than just a physical exercise—it’s a dynamic experience that promotes personal growth and teamwork. Students develop not only their strength and coordination but also critical problem-solving skills as they strategise their way up the climbing walls. The challenges Rock Climbing poses, builds resilience and self-confidence, which are invaluable both in and out of the gym. Additionally, the supportive environment among peers fosters a strong sense of community and encourages mutual encouragement. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness students overcoming obstacles, celebrating achievements, and growing together. Rock Climbing at our school offers a unique and fulfilling opportunity for students to thrive in a positive and engaging setting, and we hope to see the Sport grow even more in 2025.
