Football

The 2024 BGGS Football season was a tremendous success, with our teams showing remarkable effort and strong performances in the QGSSSA competition. The results this year demonstrate a determined and consistent approach to training and games, with all teams finishing in the top four, and our Junior B Blue team bringing home BGGSs first QGSSSA Football pennant in over 10 years. The True Blue Round against Brisbane State High School showcased the overwhelming support for our teams in the final games of the season, marking the final match for all our senior students—a treasured memory for which we are deeply appreciative.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to our incredible coaches for their dedication in helping the girls enhance their skills and perform their best this season. A special thank you must also go to our coordinator, Mrs Raechelle Finch—her hard work and enthusiasm was crucial for the smooth operation and success of the season. Finally, congratulations to all players for their outstanding efforts. Our main objective as Football Captains for 2024 was to ensure that every footballer had fun and could continue to build their passion for the sport. Hockey

The 2024 Hockey season has been an inclusive and fun journey for both senior and junior players, fostering skill development and enjoyment of the game. This year, we introduced the Hockey Buddy program, pairing senior students (Years 10 to 12) with juniors to mentor and enhance their hockey skills. Additionally, the Player of the Week award was launched, recognising players for their skill, commitment, and sportsmanship. These initiatives have reinforced our core Hockey values and strengthened the connections between different year levels.

BGGS proudly fielded four teams this year—the highest number from any school— showcasing exceptional teamwork and dedication. Congratulations to the Senior A team for securing the premiership! None of this would have been possible without our amazing coordinator, Mrs Kayley Williamson, and our head coach, Ms Cathy Taylor.
