YEAR 8 PROGRAM: NAVIGATE Year 8 experience at Marrapatta was an unforgettable adventure that left a lasting impression on all of us. Nestled deep in the heart of the lush forest, Marrapatta offered a unique opportunity to connect with nature, bond with classmates, and challenge ourselves in ways we had never imagined.
One of the highlights was our exhilarating canoeing expedition, working as a team to paddle our way through the lake. As the sun set, we gathered around a campfire, sharing stories and toasting marshmallows, forging bonds that would last long after the embers faded. And when it came to cooking, we learned to prepare delicious meals over open flames. My Year 8 experience at Marrapatta was a truly transformative journey. It allowed us to connect with nature and develop teamwork skills through canoeing. Beyond these activities, Marrapatta provided us with an invaluable opportunity to grow as individuals and form lasting friendships. The memories we created during those days in the great outdoors will serve as a reminder of the adventures and challenges. Overall, it was a journey of self-discovery, teamwork, and adventure. It was a mix of welcoming and challenging, but it taught me that I can conquer a challenge with the right support. Without some of the equipment I was used to, it forced me to think outside of the box and outside my comfort zone, enabling me to overcome the task with confidence. Jessica Allinson (8B)
The theme Navigate means finding one's way, whether through physical terrain or life's challenges, by making choices, overcoming obstacles, and constantly adapting to reach a desired destination or goal. My highlight from the program was the tree-top challenge as it was thrilling and exciting. We all had to work together as a class to ensure our classmates safety. The experience provided an opportunity to disconnect from our daily lives and enjoy the outdoors. Spending time in nature allowed me reduce my stress levels and have a better mood in general. Something that challenged me was the uphill bike ride, however, after overcoming that, the magnificent feeling going downhill and feeling like you're flying was definitely worth it. From my experience at Marrapatta, I learned how to adapt to different situations, something that I have unknowingly implemented in my everyday life since. Overall, Marrapatta was a magical experience and is a great place to have fun and learn new things. Angel Mishra (8B)
