YEAR 7 PROGRAM: THRIVE

What I gained from my experience at Marrapatta was a sense of independence and self. As I was away from home in a place I'd never been before, it made me have to think about things in a different light. I faced challenges that I normally wouldn't face, I tried new things and had to become very adaptable to the schedule as it wasn't completely set. We had to learn to be independent and to work as a team to get through the highs and the lows of our experience. We definitely learned to thrive as a class but also as a team. Ivy Wolski (7R)

I really enjoyed the team building and trust activities we participated in, which allowed us to work with each other. This lead to us forming new friendships and strengthening already made ones. It also helped with our basic communication skills, for example, when we did the raft building, we had to make compromises and collaborate on ideas for our initial design. It was a great experience to take part in with many new skills learned and memories we won’t forget. Georgia King (7R)

I have enjoyed my Marrapatta experience very much. My highlight for the program was the raft-building activity, which allowed me to be imaginative and creative and improved my team-building skills. I gained knowledge of many things, such as tying knots and team building, but I also learned more about myself and that I can do more than I thought. Such as I thought that I wouldn't be able to camp out in tents and cook spaghetti but I did that. I loved it the most because it allowed me to forget about the stress of life and I could just have fun with my friends while being out in beautiful nature. I look forward to my next Marrapatta experience. Hannah Burke (7O)
