2023 School Magazine
SOFTBALL The 2023 Senior Softball season started in early Term 1 when BGGS entered three strong teams into the competition: Open; Senior A; and Senior B. The Senior A and B teams won their respective divisions, while the Open team placed a commendable third. We couldn’t be happier with these results. This year’s Saturday morning fixtures were filled with Girls Grammar spirit and cheer. This spirit was also brought to every early morning training session where the players gave it their all. We are so thankful for all the competitors who created a lively and inclusive atmosphere for both our returning and new players. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the wonderful coaches who guided us through this season with their expertise and encouragement. Their hard work and determination clearly paid off in this year’s results.
Finally, we’d like to acknowledge the dedication and effort of our coordinator, Mr Martineau, who stepped up as our coordinator in 2023 along with Director of Sport, Ms Gooden. Without them, this season wouldn’t have been possible. Lauren Zillmann (12H) and

SWIMMING
While Swimming is usually characterised as a sport for individuals, at Girls Grammar it is so much more than that. It is certainly a way to train hard, get fit, and achieve results, but most importantly we connect with Grammar sisters from all year levels. The positive team atmosphere surrounding Swimming is unmatched; though we swim alone, we always compete as a family. This year, we raised the enthusiasm and fun in our training sessions by playing pump-up music, adding a challenge by swimming with socks, and baking chocolate chip cookies for a delicious post-swim reward. We also hosted our first-ever Swimming BBQ before QGSSSA, which was a massive success and enabled everyone to socialise and connect prior to our biggest competition of the year. But there were really no extra treats needed in the meets leading up to QGSSSA, as the atmosphere was electric. At the competition, BGGS came sixth overall, with the 14 years achieving a fantastic and well-earned second place. We’re so proud of the team, and we know we speak for everyone when we thank our coordinator Miss Nunan—it wouldn’t be possible without you!
