RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
Rhythmic Gymnastics is an expressive sport that uses apparatus (balls and hoops) to create intricate routines. As captains this year, we were fortunate to have been able to lead an incredible group of hard-working and passionate gymnasts. Our season began with trials at the beginning of Term 2, and teams were announced shortly afterward. Alongside weekly training, the squad attended holiday training in the June/July holidays to hone their skills and prepare for the QGSSSA competition. Our gymnasts then performed at the St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School Invitational competition as well as Open Day in Term 3, allowing them to adjust to performing in front of an audience.
All of our gymnasts’ hard work finally paid off with a very successful competition for BGGS. Our Year 7 team (ii), Open freehand pair (i), A grade, and Year 8 team (i) all came in first place, with our Open group team (i), Year 7 team (i), Year 8 team (iii), and Year 7 freehand teams all coming in second place. These results would not have been possible without our amazing Head Coach, Ms Tabolkina, and her team of coaches who choreographed our beautiful routines. We would also like to thank Mrs O’Gorman for being an incredible coordinator who allowed this season to run as smoothly as it did. As captains this year, we are incredibly proud of all the gymnasts that competed in the 2023 season, and hope that they continue their Rhythmic Gymnastics journey at Girls Grammar. 2023 was an unforgettable season for BGGS Rowing. This year, more than 132 rowers were involved in the program, with just over 70 in Year 8. Training began in Term 2, and it was in this term when BGGS saw its first success at the annual Indoor Ergo Championships where records were set making the team excited for the season ahead. As Rowing Captains, our aim was to build unity within the shed and to bring all rowers from all grades together in a fun and exciting environment. We are extremely proud to have led committed rowers who demonstrated great spirit at the shed and at regattas. This, combined with success at regattas, has made us extremely proud and thankful for the 2023 season and what has been achieved. We express our gratitude to coordinators, Ms Gooden and Mr Stubbs, who delivered a successful Rowing program. Participation in the Rowing program has taught us extremely valuable lessons and given us life-long skills applicable to our lives outside of School. We hope every girl who participates in the program has the same experiences and develops a lifelong love of Rowing. Harper Hammer (12M) and Isabel Skarott (12L) Rowing Captains
