A thank you must go to our incredible coordinator, Ms Levett; without her commitment, dedication, and support, the Cricket season would not have run as smoothly as it did. This year the BGGS 2023 Cricket squad, built of five teams competing across three divisions, had yet another unforgettable season. We are incredibly proud of each player's spirit, dedication, and hard work which showed through the outstanding results. Pink Stumps Day was a massive success, raising $1006.55 for the McGrath Foundation. We want to thank the parents of our cricketers for providing a lovely pink afternoon tea and for helping the biggest event on the cricketing calendar run so smoothly.
CROSS COUNTRY On Saturday 20 May 2023, Girls Grammar Cross Country runners competed in the QGSSSA Cross Country Championships. With our first taste of winter, and rugged up, we set off early and headed toward John Paul College in Daisy Hill. Every girl raced with true Girls Grammar spirit, as hundreds of supporters lined the track to cheer on our incredible runners.
A special mention must go to the 16 years age group who placed first overall, thanks to our incredible top five of Jemima Morton (11M), Lillian Wall (11B), Sophie Hunt (10O), Usha Thakur (11W), and Eliza Hoyling (10O). We would also like to individually congratulate Zoe McElwaine (10G) for finishing in first place in the 15 years division, and Jemima Morton again, who placed second in the 16 years age group. Over the past season, the BGGS Cross Country team has competed in many exciting events including: Mater Foundation Chicks in Pink Fun Run, where we raised $4265 for breast cancer; our first meet of the season where we ran with Nudgee College; holiday training sessions with Stuartholme School; six QGSSSA meets; one CASSA meet; Interhouse Cross Country; Met North trials; and State Championships. Over the season the team has demonstrated magnificent sportsmanship and an amazing effort to finish in a commendable third place overall.
