JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

O n Wednesday 19 June, Year 7 students united for a fun and invigorating session of skipping to raise funds for the Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) Program. The Program educates students on how to keep fit and healthy and raises money to support research of heart disease and stroke in Australia. Year 7 students are introduced to the Service Program at Girls Grammar by supporting this charity and this year our cohort set a goal to raise $10000. Last term, The Sherwood Arrows Skipping

Overall, this year’s JRFH event was a huge success and a highlight for all Year 7 students. We are thankful to have had this opportunity and are excited to continue in the Service Program at Girls Grammar. Thank you to Ms Rees for organising this event and to Principal, Ms Euler, for continuing to support girls to participate in initiatives such as JRFH. Iha Agrawal (7R)

team provided girls with a wonderful demonstration of their skipping talents and abilities. This certainly motivated and inspired our cohort to participate in JRFH. Dressed in House colours, the cohort came together full of spirit as we enjoyed the ‘skip-off ’ day. We were also delighted to be surprised by the JRFH mascot, Happy Heart. Congratulations to the Year 7 cohort on raising $12819 and thank you to all who contributed to this worthy cause.

STUDY BUDDIES

T he BGGS Study Buddies program involves Year 11 students volunteering to become study buddies with interested younger students in Years 7 and 8. Senior students assist their buddy in developing desirable study habits such as organisation, time management, prioritising, spelling and reading strategies. Year 11 students were provided with training in these areas to assist their buddies each week. The meetings also provided a relaxing activity for Year 11 girls to use as a break from their studies, while knowing they are positively contributing to the wellbeing of a fellow Grammar girl.
