Touch

T his year, the Brisbane Girls Grammar Tennis team had yet another unforgettable season. It was fantastic to see so many new faces, with many girls signing up for Tennis. We were impressed by the professionalism and enthusiasm the girls brought with them both on and off the court. The hard work, dedication and spirit of the team was clearly reflected in the outstanding results achieved. Seven of our teams placed in the top three of their respective divisions, with three of those teams taking home the premiership. Against tough opposition, the Open team finished a commendable fourth place. Both the Senior A and Junior A teams came third, while the Senior C and Junior C2 teams finished in a close second place. Congratulations to the Senior B, Junior B and Junior C teams all finishing the season as undefeated premiers. Special mention to Emily Ryan (8E) for being awarded the Millisent A Wilkinson Bequest for School Tennis Champion, as well as Ashleigh Paulik (7W) and Constance Gentner (12G) for their selection in their respective Metropolitan North Tennis teams. It was wonderful to see girls strengthening new and old friendships throughout the season and making lifelong memories. We also thank our wonderful coaches for their guidance and of course, our Tennis Coordinator, Dr Jenkins, for helping the season run so smoothly. We look forward to seeing what 2020 brings for the Brisbane Girls Grammar School Tennis community. Constance Gentner (12G) and Samantha Smart (12L) CAPTAINS

T his year brought another exciting and eventful Touch season at Girls Grammar. As Captains, our goals were focused on maximising commitment and ensuring every girl enjoyed playing touch. In 2019, 160 girls, in 11 teams, competed in the QGSSSA competition. TheQGSSSA seasonwas a hard fought affair with teams enjoying strong competition. Congratulations to all girls who committed to playing on Friday afternoons with high levels of resilience and pride. The majority of teams experienced more wins than losses, and while others had more losses than wins, the enthusiasm and commitment shown by all teams was unwavering. This season, we built on last year’s achievements, with six teams placing in the top four. There were a number of highlights throughout the season. The 9B teammust be acknowledged, having won three premierships in row. The Open team finished fourth, a noteworthy improvement on previous years. As well as this, the Senior B team performed exceptionally in a highly competitive field and the 7B team were runners up in their division. We enjoyed seeing girls work hard and develop as players throughout the season. From the Easter Egg Hunt and sausages sizzles at Rangakarra, to the early mornings and afternoon training sessions, this season has been a wonderful way to end our Girls Grammar Touch journey. Congratulations to all girls and thank you for your support and commitment throughout the year. Isabella Elcock (12H) and Phoebe Griffin (12W) CAPTAINS
