Netball

SPORT

T his year, Girls Grammar had 16 teams place in the top three of their division. The BGGS squad also secured three clean sweeps against St Hilda’s School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School and Clayfield College.

At fixtures, spirits were high and the joy that playing netball brought to all girls was obvious on the court. We really appreciated the support our teams received from the Girls Grammar community this season. Our manager, Miss Kempe, and Netball Coordinator, Ms Rees, have both contributed to another incredible Netball season in 2019—the results achieved would not have been possible without their constant dedication. We wish all girls participating in the Netball program in 2020 the best of luck. Georgia Chapman (12M) and Abigail Clacher (12H) CAPTAINS

Rhythmic Gymnastics

R hythmic Gymnastics is characterised by its dance-like rhythmic routines, accentuated by the use of clubs, balls, ribbons, ropes or hoops. This year, our rhythmic gymnasts were challenged to develop their strength, flexibility, coordination and ability to work as a team. As a result of this hard work, the 2019 season was an outstanding success. After more than three months of early morning training sessions, the season culminated with the QGSSSA competition on Friday 9 August at Moreton Bay College. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, anticipation and lots of glitter hairspray. The level of competition was extremely high and our gymnasts performed exceptionally well, with every Girls Grammar team finishing on the podium.

Our success this year is testament to the dedication of our team and we thank all gymnasts for their commitment. Being given the opportunity to be captains as Year 11 students was such an incredible learning experience and it was an honour that we will not forget.
