Cricket

F rom the beginning of the year, cricket girls were ready to bring their all and smash the season out of the park! Despite rain postponing a number of games at the beginning of the season, all teams improved and finished in competitive positions on the ladder. This year we were excited to have five teams competing in the QGSSSA competition, with more than 60 girls playing cricket. A special congratulations to the 1A and 1B teams who tied for third place and the 2A team, who finished second in their division. Congratulations also to Zoe Pearson (9O) who received the Cricket Encouragement Award for 2019.

Being Cricket Captains has been an amazing experience that we are thankful to have shared with each other. We were blown away by the commitment, spirit, and passion of the girls this season and hope they all enjoyed it as much as we did. Emily Bowden (12M) and PortiaWard (12W) CAPTAINS

Several players also had success in the representative arena this year. Elise O’Kane (7H) has also been selected as a reserve for this team, an incredible achievement in her first year at BGGS. We are very fortunate to have a team of knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches, scorers, and managers who helped us reach our full potential during the season. We thank them for their time, passion and support. Special mention to Cricket Coordinator, Mr Cupitt, for ensuring the season ran smoothly and encouraging us to strive for our best.
