YEAR 11 MATHEMATICS A

In Mathematics A, we studied incredibly useful and relevant topics including financial maths, statistics and data collection, construction and probability. Unlike other Maths, it is easy to apply the concepts learned to our everyday lives outside the classroom. Mathematics A accommodates for all, as the real-world topics allow for whole class discussions, creating strong bonds with our teachers and fellow students. Despite common misconceptions, Mathematics A challenges students with difficult but practical problem-solving. We cannot wait to learn new topics and deepen our understanding next year. Sophie Hassall (11B) and Arabella Walsh (11B)

YEAR 11 MATHEMATICS B

Everyone knows the exhilaration of finishing an exceptionally hard problem in Maths. If you love that feeling or would love to experience that feeling in a fun and welcoming environment for students of all capabilities, then Mathematics B is the subject for you. Often an overlooked subject, Mathematics B in Year 11 explores daring topics like logarithmic equations and derivatives. For those who love a challenge, the Mathematics B teachers are always happy to supply extra work, but beware of the small mischievous gleam in their eye when they give you a complex problem to solve. There are plenty of resources and ‘fun’ worksheets on offer for every topic covered in class. Priyanka Rudra (11E)

YEAR 11 MATHEMATICS C

Mathematics C, although challenging, is a fun and interesting subject as it provides an adrenaline rush like no other when solving complex problems. This year, we learned new concepts including imaginary numbers, vectors, sequences, matrices and the idea of infinity. Studying Mathematics C has improved our ‘out of the box’ thinking and logic processes which helped in other subjects. As mathematics is a foundation for our modern world, knowing the inner-workings of this system allows students to understand and apply this knowledge in other aspects of their lives. We have thoroughly enjoyed the past year of learning and cannot wait to see what new, challenging and fun ideas Year 12 holds. Ellen Dowling (11B), Nina Hadzivukovic (11H) and Ela Noble (11M)
