YEAR 7 INTERHOUSE MATH QUIZ

The Year 7 Interhouse Maths Quiz is a competition where students from all Houses compete against each other in four rounds of contest including speed, individual short answer, estimation and trivia. Students have a chance to work as a team within their House group to win the Year 7 Maths Quiz Cup. Throughout the competition, three students from each House participate in the first three rounds. The final round is trivia where all students from each House work together to solve questions projected onto the wall in the Gehrmann Theatre. This year, the overall winner was O’Connor House. They dominated almost every round of the competition, winning the basket of chocolates and the Year 7 Maths Quiz Cup. Milena Saina (7O)

YEAR 8 MATH TEAM CHALLENGE

On Thursday 22 February, Year 8 girls competed in the Girls Grammar Year 8 Maths Team Challenge. It was a great chance to work our brains, laugh until we could not breathe and make new bonds and friendships with other house members. It was a fantastic afternoon, especially for the winners of the competition, ‘The Yellow Mercedes’, who worked together through the ruthless questions, cheering each other on. Working together was an essential part of the afternoon. We cheered on other teams as well as our own and the sportsmanship displayed was exceptional. The afternoon was one to remember with the fun problems and combative rounds. Thank you to the Maths teachers for organising this activity for the Year 8 girls. Remi Hirayama (8L)
