2016 School Magazine

YEAR 11 Science21 has provided all girls studying the subject with an insight into modern science that we use in everyday life. So far this year, we have investigated the effects of various drugs on Daphnia, considered the use of nuclear power in Australia and researched the Moreton Bay ecosystem. These topics relate to recent issues that are occurring within our community, and allow us the opportunity to develop our knowledge so that we can actively participate in discussions that occur outside school. Science21 explores many facets of science, so the matters discussed are always interesting and relevant. Fully immersing yourself in this subject is easy because of the teachers’ enthusiasm to teach and explore these topical issues in class.

KATE BREEDING (11B)

YEAR 12 Science21 is one of our favourite subjects. With a combination of all of the sciences, it effectively interlocks Chemistry, Biology and Physics in ways that gives us hands-on experience with science. Science21 explores many broad and stimulating topics, from analysing a murder investigation for forensics to studying the physics of roller coasters. It has been a great subject that has allowed us to enjoy many different aspects of science without worrying about missing out by only choosing one senior science subject. Furthermore, Science21 covers many present and future topics that relate to current problems, such as global warming, and we hope to use the knowledge gained from Science21 in the future.
