GERMAN HILARY BUI (10E)

German, also known as Deutsch, continues to enrich us with valuable knowledge in a fun and engaging manner each lesson. Whenever we enter a German classroom, an enthusiastic vibe is always present. The teachers unfailingly teach us the essential skills for understanding and practising German, as well as about the diverse aspects of German culture and lifestyle. They instruct us with a broad spectrum of vocabulary and continually engage the class with stories or past experiences. Each lesson, they also assist us individually, in developing our skills to achieve our personal goals.

JAPANESE ELSIE EDWARDS (9G)

Studying Japanese in Year 9 has made me realise the diversity of the Japanese language. During the lessons, the teachers show us a number of different aspects of Japanese culture, as well as language. Even though a number of people think it is difficult to learn, memorise and write the Japanese characters, I find that once you have found a strategy that your brain can adapt to, the process becomes a lot easier.

CHINESE SAMANTHA KITSON (12G)

Chinese is an extremely interesting and rewarding subject. This year we’ve learnt about famous scenic sites and tourist destinations in cities all around the world, as well as ways to describe both our physical appearance and personality. A highlight of this year was the visit from our sister school in Shanghai. It was exciting to see and reconnect with them after our visit to their school last year. Students across all year levels were given the opportunity to meet and speak with these students to improve their language skills and make friendships in preparation for future China trips. All year levels have also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture through excursions to places such as China Town. Learning in an environment where the teachers are always helpful and enthusiastic, we always have a lot of fun. 090
