YEAR 11 BIOLOGY Biology gives us the insight and opportunities to learn about the interactions between our lives and the wider environment. This year we were given the experience to travel and explore Australian coastal ecosystems in a hands on interactive learning experience. Biology is a valuable subject that has been both fun and beneficial and we would recommend it as a subject choice to younger grades. TORI MAYNE (11H), COURTNEY RAFEI (11H), MAEVE REES–MURPHY (11G) AND EMILY RAINBIRD (11G)

Senior Biology covers a diverse range of topics including the human body systems, ecology and experimentation. This year has been thoroughly enjoyable, and we have gained new knowledge and an insight into the natural world. While the course has been challenging, it’s also rewarding, as once you complete assessment you realise just how much you have learnt. EMMA JEREMY (11E), OLIVIA RAFTESATH (11B) AND ELIZABETH SIMMERS (11W)

YEAR 11 PHYSICS In Year 11, we explored the physics of cars and light in great detail — who knew that the light that we talk about every day is only one part of the electromagnetic spectrum! As we were able to perform various experiments, it made our lessons both educational and enjoyable. Overall, not only has Physics been interesting and exciting, it has opened my eyes to how everything works and how everything links back to science. Finally, may the mass x acceleration be with you. Physics provides concepts and models that describe the world around us. In Year 11 Physics we have explored force and energy as well as wave motion, and though the subject can be challenging it is very rewarding and enjoyable. KATHRYN BIRD (11H)

YEAR 12 PHYSICS SHIYE SU (12R)

Year 12 Physics has been a stimulating and enriching course. We’ve explored electromagnetism, radioactivity, wave-particle duality, special relativity, and the standard model. Term II was particularly full of initiative, with each girl undertaking an Extended Experimental Investigation on intriguing problems, from artificial polymer muscles to the rotation of soap film in an electric field. For those considering their senior subject choices, I couldn’t recommend Physics more. It develops critical thinking skills, vital in any professional or academic field, and in exposing each student to a range of interesting phenomena, encourages intellectual curiosity in daily life.
