Opti-MINDS REBECCA HALEY (9M) AND JESSICA HANH (9M) Opti-MINDS is a co-curricular activity that promotes creative, sustainable thinking. Students from all year levels are invited to join and get involved. The participants are sorted into teams to create a creative solution and drama performance for their given challenge. There are three categories: Language Literature, Social Sciences and Science Engineering.

Meetings occur throughout Term III up to the Performance Day and teams can meet when suits them best. In these meetings, teams will develop their solution and practise their drama performance. In 2015, Girls Grammar entered four teams; two in Social Sciences and two in Science Engineering. The two Social Sciences teams both won Honours and one of the Science Engineering teams won the Spirit Award and first place overall. This team proceeded to the State/National Finals to compete for a chance to advance to the International Level.

GRAMMAR DANCE ASHLEIGH BRANT (7G)

And … 5, 6, 7, 8! This year in Grammar Dance we have all been a bit ‘bad’, ‘bond’ed together, felt ‘my kind of love’, explored The Great Gatsby era and more. Grammar Dance unites BGGS girls, giving us the opportunity to meet new friends across a variety of years and houses. We connect through music and common interests and build solid, long lasting friendships.

Grammar Dance offers girls the opportunity to stay fit and experience choreographers who work with us like professionals and organise performances each semester. As we work together as a team to prepare for performances our friendships and trust deepen. We find ourselves becoming more mature and responsible and looking out for one another within the School. The Grammar Dancers would like to thank BGGS staff for their time supporting us and giving us these opportunities. I know, as a new Year 7 girl, being a part of Grammar Dance made the transition to high School easier and for this I am very grateful.
