YEAR 12 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS IMOGEN LOW (12O) Information Technology Systems (ITS) is a fun, collaborative, and highly engaging subject requiring good problem-solving skills and inventiveness. This year we approached new tasks with a design thinking mindset to examine and create better user experience solutions. We integrated a broad range of compliant coding languages such as JQuery Mobile, JavaScript and CSS to develop responsive websites for mobile devices. Our coding was tested on live sub-domains and our projects needed to function efficiently and effectively on our personal devices. I particularly enjoyed designing and developing a mobile web application for the BGGS Open Day. This assignment led me to entering Queensland’s Young ICT Explorers competition in August, where I won the senior division with my 3D Maps for Industry project. Each of our tasks this year offered a great opportunity for true creativity. We have not only been equipped with an understanding of today’s technologies, but have also developed a capability to use emerging technologies in the future, an essential quality to have, in this rapidly changing and progressing industry.

YEAR 11 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS ALICE WHITING (11E) Information Technology Systems (ITS) has provided many challenging but rewarding learning activities, allowing us to develop a broader understanding of creative design and applied technologies. The design, develop and evaluate cycle has been our main focus for the year. Using a broad range of technology systems we were able to create an original and innovative website and branding for a Brisbane company. We used a HTML, JavaScript and CSS framework for web development and also created a group post-production video using commercial software. The video unit commenced with a visit to one of Brisbane’s leaders in VFX and post-production, Cutting Edge at West End and was extremely enjoyable for all. This subject has certainly strengthened our talents as young designers and delivered valuable life skills. Term IV involved self-paced learning in Codecademy activities in HTML and CSS. Learning to code in HTML and styling content in CSS has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and we look forward to completing our ePortfolio towards the end of Term IV. YEAR 10 MULTIMEDIA AND INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES EESHA BAJRA (10R) Year 10 Multimedia and Interactive Technologies in 2015 kicked off with us designing our own digital shopfront, a process that carried over into Term II. We began in Term I by investigating how brands target their audiences and how many companies have begun to digitalise their shopfronts, as well as learning some interesting branding design techniques. We were also taught about the intricate details of photography, which allowed us to take very professional-looking photographs for the commercial photography component of our digital shopfront. In Term II we dove into designing our own dream brand, using the skills from Term I. We designed and created our own logo and company, which were displayed on Open Day. In Term III we paired up with our peers to design an animation using Adobe Flash. We learnt amazing interactive coding and animation skills that allowed us to create stunning animations, some of which were entered into ScreenIt. We were able to create everything from bouncing balls to interactive activities that required the push of a button or the arranging of a puzzle in order to proceed.
