BC^'I^BANE WF?ITEl::::^"^^ FE, ^^TIVAL In early September a small group of Grammar girls were lucky to attend Brisbane Writers Festival. We sat for talks from three different authors Garth Nix, Me Iina Marchetta and Kate De Goldi. All these successful authors were engaging and gave interesting talks about their careers. These sessions with the authors helped to improve our writing skills and learn about what it is like to be an author. Garth Nix gave an extremely amusing talk and he took a real life story but changed it to make it a fantasy story. Kate De Goldi had also used real life situations to inspire her novel The lopm Quest/bn An excellent day was had by all
