';^^W I I\/I I\A N G The 2012-2013 Swimming season got off to a great start. with over eighty girls attending the three-day holiday training camp in the last week of the summer holidays. Everyone who attended benefited from the swimming sessions, improved their relay changeover skills, and had fun along the way. it was especially great to see nearly forty Year 8 girls at the camp, keen to kick-start their involvement in Swimming at BGGS This Swimming season has proven to be a challenging one. The season was considerably shorter than usual, and we ran into some difficulties with the closure of our usual training venue. Centenary Pool. Despite this, attendance numbers at training were admirable. it was great to see those 200 faces of keen and excited swimmers at Wednesday morning training sessions throughout the season It was also wonderful to see girls improving their times at the Friday night carnivals. it was evident that everyone's hard work was paying off in the lead-up to aGSSSA Swimming. Inter house was also a great success. with a huge number of girls participating and supporting their houses. Grimth House came away with the win this year

Our fine team of coaches, led by former professional player Robert Sineets, did an amazing job throughout the season of helping the players develop their skills and ensuring that everyone thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team Dr Jenkins, as co- obinator of BGGS Tennis, worked extensively to prepare the girls for their Friday night and Saturday morning matches, and our success would not have been possible without his guidance Success does not come by chance. so it is clear that the early winter morning trainings throughout Term 3 certainly paid off. CUIminating in success in the aGSSSA fixtures The Brisbane Girls Grammar School Tennis community welcomes new girls each year and hopes to see the same level of dedication in the years to follow
Finally. the day of aGSSSA Swimming arrived On 6 March. over eighty dedicated BGGS swimmers converged on Chandler Pool, keen to show the other schools what we could do. We placed a respectable 6th. only three points from 4th. All the girls tried their best and had fun - as captains. we were extremely proud of the team. The night was made all the more special by the huge number of BGGS supporters cheering us on We thank all the coaches, head coach Miss Hatch and co- ordinator Miss Martel. Swimming would not have been as successful as it was without all your support and encouragement EMILY POOLE (120) & CHARLOTTE LOVEJOY <12L), CAPTAINS
