FOOTBALL This season of Football has been a great success. with the Juniors In fourth place and the Open and Senior teams both In fifth. Congratulations to Gaby Bennett (11W). Sophie Poole (100). He Iena McCarthy <11G) and Abi Than gavel (9G) for their Player of the Match awards

FENCING

We were fortunate this year to have Elise Kellond-Knight as a Specialist Coach. Elise Is a very accomplished professional player. whose career highlights include: membership of the 2008-2009 Brisbane Roar team, which won the W-League Premiership and Championship; the 2009 Young Player of the Year Award; and playing with the Matildas in the AFC Asian Cup and the FIFA World Cup On Wednesday afternoons

she ran training sessions for the Opens and skill sessions for the whole squad, teaching valuable skills that really improved our game. She offered the girls advice on playing their positions and supporting their team mates Her presence inspired everyone as she showed them what they could achieve with hard work and persistence

This Fencing season has been exciting and rewarding for all involved. At the start of the year, the sport welcomed Year 8 fencers. whowere~all very eage to learn The competitions started in Term 2. with the highly- anticipated School Team Fencing Fixtures. Out of sixteen teams, ten placed in the top three of their divisions. with two gold medals. two second places and six third places. This outstanding performance reflects the enthusiasm. hard work and morale of the girls this year The teams then went on to achieve even greater results in the National School Team Fencing Championships In Term 3. Seven teams entered the three event competition and attained incredible results. BGGS teams won the title of National Champion in all three events - foil. epee and sabre - for the third consecutive year. A number of younger fencers also participated In the competition. fencing very well and learning a lot from the experience Throughout the year the fencers have proved themselves to be committed and ebullient, and it has been a pleasure to be the captain of such a lovely group of girls

At our end of the season celebration on the pool lawn we thanked our coaches. Stormy Scarlett. Sophie Dreves. Seb Monteverd. and our fantastic co- ordinator Mrs Kildey. for all their hard work to ensure an epic season. it was a very enjoyable afternoon. even when we had to go and fish the ball out of the pool! Football at Girls Grammar is a great way to form friendships across different grades. The energy and enthusiasm of all the girls has ensured the squad's continual improvement over my five years' involvement I am confident that. under the guidance of our incredible coaches, the BGGS Football Squad will become even better and continue to play Football to a very high standard
