'PICTURE THIS'

The 2013 Gala Concert. titled 'Picture This'. was fantastic and definitely the highlight of the music year. As suggested by the theme. the pieces came from movies, TV shows and musicals. The red carpet entrance, Year 12 music students' formal headshots and confetti cannons were some of the magnificent decorations. As opposed to a traditional coinpere, Mr Gary Holley acted as a talk show host, which was extremely effective and added an exciting twist to the night The 'Mission Impossible' film that opened the concert starring Agent' Daisy Nussey <12H> performing her dangerous mission was a real hit. The quality of the music was extremely high and everyone, students and audience alike, enjoyed themselves immensely

Big Band opened Gala by playing the Mission Impossible theme alongside the opening video. which was a hilarious and exciting beginning to the night Chamber Orchestra then began their repertoire with the theme from Hitchcock's Psycho. with a montage of the film playing alongside the music. Their next piece, Spring by Vivaldi. featured Catherine Chan <11R) as soloist John William's theme from Schind/erS List was next performed. followed by Summertime. written by George Gershwin. featuring Jasmine Jin (110) on solo violin. The combined male and female choir, Grammar Singers, sang two pieces from Westside Story. They opened with a medley from the musical comprising of I Feel Pretty
