Chamber Winds and Concert Band participated in the Intermediate Band Workshop in August, combined with ensembles from Redlands College and St Joseph's College Gregory Terrace

BAND Symphonic Winds met for the first time at Senior Music Camp - a weekend of intense rehearsals and challenging repertoire as well as fun activities. it was an opportunity to work on our ensemble skills in preparation for the Welcome to New Families Concert, a showcase for new students to experience the variety of the Instrumental Music community. Later that term, the Autumn Concert featured our concert bands, jazz bands and percussion ensembles Term 2 saw the Cathedral Concert take place at St Stephen's Cathedral. The concert featured a flute quartet, made up of Lucinda Hinckfuss <12H). Kathy Chen (12G), Allce Zhang <12B) and Elizabeth Cox 01R). playing Jour D^te a La Montegne. and a chamber ensemble performing Music for the Royal Fireworks. Wind Ensemble participated in the Junior Band Workshop with Brisbane Grammar School. CUIminating in their first concert performance. in May. the Instrumental Competitions took place. Congratulations to the prize winners: Claudia Gameron (11B. BGGS Brass Prize). Hannah Kamgarpour (11R, BGGS Woodwind Prize). Ashley MCGregor (11L. BGGS Percussion Prize), Abirami Somasundaram (8M. Gillies Piano Prize) and Tokiwa Onoda <9E, Wight Medal). Big Band was excited to perform at the opening of the School's new sports campus at Fig Tree Pocket The term concluded with the Jazz in June Concert, showcasing our three jazz bands and featuring the Year 11 Jazz Combo. The combo, made up of Claudia Cameron (11B). Claudia GUIbransen-Diaz <11L). Grace Pringle (11G) and Ashley MCGregor (11L) and vocalist Me rinda Dias-Jayasinha (11G). also provided entertainment at the Year 12 Pre-Formal Function

In September. Her Excellency the Honourable auentin Bryce AO CVO, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, launched the book Educat/hg Gills by Professor Erica MCWilliam, and Big Band performed at this prestigious event Term 4 began with preparations for the Gala Concert. After performances at the Spring Concert and Speech Day, it may have seemed that the Band Programme was drawing to a close. but the music did not stop until the final note was played at the Christmas Concert. it has been an amazing year of music and I am honoured to have been your Band Captain in 2013
