ANll\/IE CLUB Anime Club is a place where girls from all Year levels and Houses come to participate in the discussion of Japanese pop culture. Every Friday lunch time. we gather in the studio to watch an anime that is nominated at the beginning of the term. The animes suggested can range from light-hearted and hilarious to dark and serious. This year. we have watched several animes such as 07 Ghost. Cromartie High school. and ACcel World Some participants in Anime Club participate in cosplay. an activity involving a combination of costume and play, and the ones who do often show off the photos taken of them. Throughout the year. the Anime Club has teamed up with the Photography Club for a cosplay photo shoot, resulting in a wonderful collection of photos of Anime Club members dressed up as comic, fairy tale, video game. and anime characters This isn't the only opportunity that the girls get to have fun joining in these activities; there are also events such as Supanova and the Anime Picnic. To anyone who has found a recent interest in Anime. Japanese pop culture. or just wants to try out a new club: you are welcome to come and visit us in the Studio during Friday lunchtimes each week

DEBAT NG The 2013 Debating season was incredibly enjoyable and successful. After hours of intense training, perfecting rebuttal techniques and writing speeches. as well as thousands of palm cards. BGGS fielded five teams in the Senior Brisbane Girls Debating Competition (BGD), eight teams in the Junior TriSeries Competition and nineteen teams in the Queensland Debating Union <00U) competition. The OUT Business School BGD competition. now in its second year. saw two BGGS teams reach the Grand Final debate, with the Senior A Team. consisting of Kate Cockburn <12M), Paris Collins <12R), Sarah MacDonald (11W), Annabelle Gank0 (12R) and Tea Angelos (120). defeating All Hallows' to win the Year 12 division Furthermore. BGGS was also extremely successful aDU competition. After four preliminary debates, thirteen teams were successful in reaching the Finals Series, where weekly knock-out style debates determined which teams would participate in the Grand Final. With six teams in the Semi-Finals Girls Grammar then remained with Year 8 and 9 teams contesting the Grand Final. Overall. BGGS achieved second place in the Champion Schools Cup, with the Year 8.1 team

The UN Club at BGGS is a forum where students can meet. discuss and learn about current issues which have both and national and international focuses We have had some lively discussions on topics, ranging from the problem of violence against women in India to the current crisis in Syria This year the UN Club was privileged to listen to Ms Hennessey speak about the establishment of the UN in the aftermath of World War 11. Some of us also volunteered at the International Women's Day Breakfast which was an exciting opportunity to learn about the plight of women in war-torn countries. Two of our members. Hansa She rina (110) and Anna Raftery (110). recently participated in the UN Youth Evatt Trophy Competition and are congratulated for having made it into the finals The UN Club this year has been a great success and Is an enjoyable lunch-time activity
