DIGITAL P'HOTOG!::^'APHY CLUB The Digital Photography Club aims to enhance the abilities of its members and to educate others about the effects photographs
can have on people. This year's major event. the inaugural 'Go Mobile' competition, challenged students from all grades to submit an image captured on their mobile device. Over one hundred entries were received. reflecting the ability to tell a story through a single image. The art has become increasingly popular over the last few years thanks to the growing accessibility of cameras. and the images produced by the students were outstanding On the technical side. the club has learnt more about the finer aspects of photography. such as the use of black and white. the influence lines have on images. post-production, and more. This has allowed the students to bring deeper meaning to their images and grasp possibilities when they arise. I hope that the invaluable knowledge received each week is continually used by club members in the future

I\/IATHAPATTA Mathapatta 2013 was an extraordinary and intensive Maths Camp held at our beautiful Marepatta campus in the Mary Valley The camp, conducted from 28-29 July, was attended by twenty-eight girls accompanied by four teachers Mrs Muller. Mrs Morrison, Ms Gunn and Dr Jenkins Over the weekend we explored mathematical concepts such as OScillating quadratic graphs, the calculation of points of balance on geometric objects, and investigating objects that are neither I-Dimensional nor 2-Dimensional but have a fractional dimension My favourite session was learning about indices and mathematical patterns We explored indices and extended our knowledge by finding patterns between the expanded versions of that allowed us to expand any such expression quickly It was an extraordinary feeling to discover the pattern and to simplify these expressions within seconds, instead of minutes Another highlight was completing frightening 'jumps of faith', all in the name of data that could be modelled into periodic equations. Overall, a great time of learning and enjoyment!
