Late in Term I. 11 was then time for the annual concert at St Stephen's Cathedral At this concert our wonderful choral programme featured heavily with performances from Chamber Singers. Grammar Singers and Chorale. Each group performed a variety of pieces ranging from 'Glorias' to 'Gospet' and it was a fantastic occasion. A special feature of the programme was Ave Maria sung by Chorete and accompanied by past student Emity Smith on the flute. All the choirs performed again in the May concerts. demonstrating significant progress in performance skills. The next big choral event In Term 11 was Brisbane Grammar Schools Grammar in Concert. This 15 an annuat event for boys' Grammar where our combined boys and girls Grammar choir - Grammar Singers - performed exception atty well with a featured arrangement of the song Fields of Gold. In Concert provide the chance for Chamber Singers to sing some unique pieces Including a strange Canadian song ise the By. At this concert I was also fortunate to perform as the winner of the Vocal Competition in the finals of the Jefferies bursary Open Day was a chance to showcase each of the choirs individually in a series of open rehearsals conducted by Mr Hottey and Ms Eaton in the choir room. The year continued with Chamber Singers performing at various events around Brisbane. including the annual international Womens Day. the Next Generation Sings Festival and The Centaur Service. This is a performance that the Chamber Singers have attended for more than 10 years and it is an integral part of our calendar. At the Choral concert late in Term 111. all the choirs had the opportunity to perform a wide variety of choral works from all around the world The Chamber Singers' programme was influenced by a touch of British Columbian folk music while Grammar Singers showcased a spectacular Brazilian piece. At this concert Daisy Nussey 111Hl. Grace Henry 111U and is abetta Gray 111Bl also performed as the winners of the Gillies Vocal Ensemble competition, along with the runners up. The choir concluded the concert with the piece Here I Come Home by Katy Abbott The year finished with the annual Gala concert and this years theme of Untorgettabte. At this concert a pop/rock twist was present in the final medley, which Included favourites such as Dancing Queen. Hallelujah and Blame it On The Boogie. Then after a performance at Speech Day. and the face painting and glow sticks of carols night. the choral programme for 2012 drew to an end. its been a great year in the music programme and it has been an honour to be your Choral Captain JOHANNA DAVIE 112Rl, CHORAL CAPTAIN

Grammar Singers and Chamber Singers buditioned choirsl The year began with a choir camp for both of the auditioned ensembles. This camp consisted of two days of workshopping new pieces which was a great way to meet everyone and created a good vibe across the ensembles. A particular hit for Chamber Singers was Boogie Woogi'e Bugle Boywhich had everyone tapping their feet. All of this preparation was for the first concert on the calendar. the Year 8 Welcome to New Families Concert This was the first chance for our new Year 8 choristers to see the level of work that goes into the senior ensembles and to aspire for the auditioned groups. Having had toriger to rehearse in their ensembles and with a performance under their belts, these seasoned professionals then performed In the Autumn concert along with all other choristers
