The Year 8 team must be coinmended on their fantastic presentation in the Social Science division. The second Grammar team. which consisted of a mix of Year 95 and o Year 10 student. also did a finejob in their Language and Literature presentation After the Year 8 presentation. both teams had some time to relax before their Spontaneous Challenge. where teams came up with a character and what they couldn't live without. for example a child without imagination. Both teams received an Honours award

On the morning of the 26 August. eleven girls, two teachers and some committed parents met at Centenary State High School for the DPIiminds 2012 Chattenge Two teams with varying numbers of between four and seven individuals competed in two of the three categories. The categories that the teams participated in were Social Science and Language Literature. Each team had to address the challenge of living in a world without colour

Merte Weaver was a teacher at Brisbane Girls Grammar on three different occasions between 1918 and 1951 She was the first woman and only the third student to be granted Honours In English at the University of Hobart In 1912 Ms Weaver very kindly made a bequest to the Schoolin 1951 for both the junior and senior public speaking competitions These competitions are a formal occasion with all of the junior school and staff In attendance for Year 10. while Year 12 competitors speak to an audience of their peers and staff Year 10 must base their speech on a proverb while Year 12 can choose any topic for their prepared speech Year12 also do an impromptu speech based on a proverb with 10 minutes preparation time This yea r's winners were CIaudia GUIbransen - Diez IYearlDl and Mikeeta Brusasc0 112Wlwho received their prizes on Speech Day Ms T MACLEAN. co- ORDiNATOR
