2010 School Magazine
Sailing The 8009-2010 Batting season was certainly a challenging, exciting and successful one. Throughout Terms I and TV, our girls traveited out to Maruy every Sunday morning to train at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. Our Year 88 and other new members formed the School's Development Squad which focused on building the girls' basic boat handling skins, white the Racing team participated in the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Teams Racing competition Over the sailing year our Racing team advanced from Group E to Group D, finishing third in their group and was awarded the Umpires Achievement Award for the season. Our sail boats were refurbished for the upcoming season, which will be a wonderful treat for both our new corners and more experienced sailors. Sailing has provided our girls with valuable skins that are used in both Baiting and everyday life. The team spirit, confidence and enthusiasm we see in our girls is something that would not have been possible without our dedicated coaches and CO-OPdinator, Mr P Winemsen.

Soccer 8010 has been a very significant year for our soccer community. it marks the five year anniversary'for soccer at Girls Grammar. Final results of the season for each team are as follows; the Open team ranked eighth, the Senior A team ranked seventh and the Junior team ranked sixth. it was great to see the girls participate and show such interest in the 'beautiful game'. Each of the coaches showed amazing dedication in working with the girls to bring out their best skills. Miss T Evans and our former captain Miss I Maugeri (2009) coached the junior team. With plenty of wins and a mix of draws and losses the juniors have set themselves up weU for the years allead. Tile Senior team was taught a thing or two by Miss K Lee and Mr 11 Chadirohi, their coaches. Mr A
Kennard, returned to coach the Open team. This season the Opens had intense trainings, featuring Mr P Steele, which definitely paid off in the games. However, none of the season would have come together like it did or could have been as wonderful as it was without our co- ordinator, Ms S Boyle. There was a mixture of results from the games. There were friendships that were built not only across grades but across different groups, which defines the season much more than the rainting of the teams. This season was one of the best and was a great way to mark the five year Anniversary. I am sure there will be many more wonderful soccer seasons to follow.
