Cant rapliy Onin, Calligraphy Club, founded in April8000, brings together students from Girls Grammar and BGS for lessons taught by professional Japanese calligrapher and Ninth Dan judge Konina Sensei and his wife Emuko Sensei. Koiima Sensei and Runtko Sensei's enthusiasm and positivity for the art inspire and encourage students' Strong friendships have been formed between students as they support each other and work towards the same goals. Some members entered the 'Art Speaks Japanese' competition for to second consecutive year submitting pieces of Gangraphy and a Sunnie (Japanese ink painting). Working on our various pieces during Term 111 was an enriching and charrenging experience. Here are some comments from the other club members: "Gaulgraphy Club is fun and has helped me to meet new friends. " "Calligraphy 18 very calming after a busy day at school and it reaUy helps you relax and not worry. " "When I first started I lacked confidence but Konina Sensei helped me every lesson and I felt like I improved each time. Looking back I feel really proud of how far I've come.

This Competition provided the OPPOPtUntty to design and develop an mmovative project and to Bee what the Information and Coinmruxioation Technologies world is like from a different perspective. There were a variety of projects - from websites to games and robots. From Professor P&ul Strooper, the Head of UQ's School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, we learnt that the demand for 10T professionals was growing, 80 it was vital to develop student interest in this diverse and ever-changing profession. The club allows members to explore technology that goes beyond what 18 covered in o188s. This year we started off exploring interactive design for the neod Touch, using Lynd&. corn as our indu8try guide. Following to18 we formed a number of groups in order to participate in the Young 10T ExplorerB competition. Vinen Chang (1811), Sonantha Bit 08W), Jenny Pan a8B) and Mareyka then a8E) were selected to present our 10T project 88 part of the Young 10T Explorers event
