Health Promoting Schools (HPS) is a student committee that aims to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the School community. The committee has met weekly to plan fundraising events and raise awareness of the values of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Although the committee started with a few members. we have grown significantly as more girls understood the great importance of this cause In August. we held our main fundraiser, a strawberry stall where we sold strawberry skewers and bowls of strawberries and cream. This was an extremely successful activity and we raised just over $660 The charity we supported was the Heart Foundation's Go Red for Women. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in Australia and this organisation has had a long and esteemed association with our School Many current and past students have been involved with this foundation, through their yearly fundraisers and charity events. This year, Rebecca Keny and ETittany Rumn, along with other girls from the School, attended the annual Womens Heart Foundation luncheon Yoga in the Genremann Theatre each Friday morning at 78m, a yoga Glass is led by misabeth matcher, a teacher from Yoga in Daily Life in Brisbane. A small group of students attended all year and have gained benefit from practising relaxation, breathing and stretching teemxiques to help relax mind and body. What a great way to finish the week at school! am n pineot. Exitta, ty Burnn

in today's world there is a strong focus on environmental sustainabi!ity and awareness. The Grammar Environmental and Conservation Organisation is a passionate group focused on raising awareness and instigating change This year. GECO members have discussed many environmental issues and events such as Earth Hour and highlighted the simple tasks each of us can do to make this planet a better home to everyone The recycling box initiative, in which each House Group decorated a recycled Xerox box, savr the production of some truly environmentally friendly boxes, frequently used to recycle paper in each home room. Also, GECO joined both the 'Mobile Muster', collecting old mobile phones for recycling and a program for recycling cartridges Open Day celebrations allowed GECO to show the School community who we are and what we do. Through a bake stall sening natural products and organic food, as well as refreshing ginger beer and elder berry cordial, we raised money for the World Wildlife Fund. Our message tree encouraged the community to write their own environmental tips, while a petition against harmful Palm Oil practices was a great success with many people supporting the cause in a bid to protect the environment of endangered animals such as tigers and orangutans Blissa Kimber <. 2B> and Sophie Stone
