^6-1^^c^^ Brisbane Girls Grammar School Volleyball has a history of remarkable results and this year has been no exception. All volleyballers approached the season with enthusiasm which continued throughout the season. The season began with the Inter house Volleyball Competition, with England emerging as the champion House after defeating Gibson in the final. it was a fantastic way to begin the year and develop the spirit to carry through to the aGSSSA competition. Talent, determination and fantastic team work were once again demonstrated by the players which ultimately led us to another successful season. Each girl is to be congratulated for her impressive school spirit and the encouragement that she gave others on and off the court. A number of teams competed in the Senior and Junior Volleyball Schools' Cup Tournaments. These competitions provided the girls with another opportunity to improve their volleyball I^^^ I"0^ Water Polo has once again proven to be one of the School's most successful sports. This is not only true in terms of achievements but also, the levels of involvement, enthusiasm and commitment have been outstanding. This season, creating team spirit and developing a positive sense of community, were two of the goals Grammar Water Polo players set themselves. With the advent of the player diary, players were asked to be responsible for recording and reflecting on their attendance and commitment at training and games. Courtesy, respect and responsibility have become important aspects of this sport in 2008. A record sixteen teams were entered into the Brisbane Junior Water Polo Competition held each Saturday. Of these teams, nine progressed through to the semifinals, with three qualifying for the grand finals-the U13As, the U13Cs and the U14As. These teams are to be coinmended for their fantastic effort. Both the 13As and the 13Cs had undefeated seasons, while the 14As were runners up at both Club and State level.

skills and develop their team unity. A team comprised of Year 10s and 12s competed in Open Division Two in Toowoomba and placed third. All of the girls stepped up to the challenge and improved exceptionally over the competition and these results reflected this. Sincere appreciation is extended Mrs C Kiolle, Co- ordinator, and to all coaches for their ongoing support, dedication and organization without which, the season would not have been possible. ^;4"'M^'^'^?AZ\172, ^ ^4P^,\ Two significant highlights for this season were the State Championships at U14 and 16 and Under levels at the Gold and Sunshine Coasts respectively. Silver medals at both tournaments indicate that the younger age groups have proven to be very strong. Once again this season, the sports of water polo and swimming worked closely together forming an quatics unit and results in each area will only be enhanced with the advent of a new pool on site in 2009. The conclusion of the water polo season was capped off with the annual end of season Aquatics Dinner. This was a wonderful evening in which the prestigious Debbie Handley Award went to Emily Benson (10B). This night was a celebration of the hard work, enthusiasm, commitment and teamwork over the season and we thank particularly our Co-ordinator Mrs C Moore, and our Head Coach, Mrs A Corbin along with the other coaches for their guidance and leadership. We also thank the wonderful parent managers who have contributed to a fantastic season. To all future Girls Grammar Water Polo Players-have a fun time, keep a positive attitude and contribute to a positive atmosphere. Rise to the challenge and discover how good you can be.
