After two years of climbing the same old climbing routes, our joy was renewed this year after the instalment of a new wall layout. Many new Year 8s were welcomed to the rock climbing scene and after 'showing them the ropes' their skills continue to improve through weekly climbs It is great to see many new girls involved and displaying such a strong finesse on the wall. Personal climbing challenges ranged from conquering the mighty 'Catt's Walk' climb to overcoming a fear of heights The rock climbing displays on Open Day and the 'come and try' sessions were both very successful, drawing crowds of eager girls to the walls who were excited to test themselves and their friends. We would like to extend our thanks to the Co- ordinators, Mr B Greatorex and Ms J O'Brien who helped to make the year so enjoyable ^^4 ^^'@^ 17W ^@ ^'^^" I^^' 171, ^ ^

2008 Grammar soccer experienced a fantastic season, revealing some hidden talent, dedication to improvement and team spirit. For the first time four teams were selected to represent Grammar-the Opens, Senior A, Junior A and Junior B. Unfortunately the Junior B competition did not 90 ahead but the team continued to attend training sessions and provided crucial support by filling vacancies in the other teams. The huge success of the season was due to the coaches and Mr D Noonan, the Co- ordinator, who spent their time and energy organising and supporting us, ensuring that the season ran smoothly The Junior A team should be highly coinmended for their undefeated equal premiership victory. They finished the season with an amazing '{or and against' score of 36-3. The outstanding talent and teamwork displayed on the field was a credit to their coach, Mr A Kennard. The Senior team brought together a number of players enjoying their first experience in the sport. Gaining seventh place in the competition, their enthusiasm and support at training and games was truly motivating. Through Mr H Chadirchi's supportive style of coaching the senior girls significantly expanded their skills. The Open team continued to improve their standing in this 100th year of aGSSSA competition, recording the most wins achieved by a Girls Grammar Open soccer team, which gained them fourth position overall. Coached by Mr R Hamernik, the team kept a well organised defence providing a solid barrier to opposition strikers The continued persistence at training and matches from all players enabled the development of skills and knowledge. With this team spirit, Girls Grammar Soccer will continue to reach new heights in the seasons to come
