After six weeks of hard training and bonding, and many Friday night carnivals it time for the squad to compete against each other at the Inter house Swimming competition held at the Chandler Aquatic Centre. The day proved to be a success with a record number of girls in attendance and squad members swimming personal bests. Congratulations must go to the age champions of the day; also to Gibson House for winning the Lilley Inter house Swimming Cup and the Burrell Cup for Relays, and Mackay House for winning the Lifesaving Cup in a nail biting finish. After waltzing around the School in our togs for Blue Day to encourage potential supporters, and spending over 500 hours in the chlorine, it was finally time for the big day-aGSSSA competition. The hype and excitement in the air for the seventy-five girls in the team was very encouraging. The team performed tremendously achieving an overall third place behind two schools that are esteemed for their swimmers- More ton Bay College and St Margaret's Anglican Girls School. Part of this accomplishment was owed to the record 160 school supporters; covered in blue and cheering loudly. Congratulations to every member of the team, especially the girls who placed in their individual races and the 17 Years for winning the age group pennant for the third consecutive year. Also to the Year 8s for gaining a deserving third place. The success of the 2008 season would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of the girls and their families but also the Co- ordinator, Miss J Martel, Head Coach Miss R Easey, assistant coaches, Miss M Sharpless (2006) and Miss K MCKenzie (2006). ^OP\, ^;4^!F1 17^! ^MP ^'Z^"' $7"'8^? nay/ ^4m\.@

outstanding performances coming away with two first, two second and two sixth places.
This year teams continued to have the guidance of Co ordinator, Mrs P Harvey-Short. Her knowledge of softball, dedication and organisation was highly appreciated. We were also able to have the experience and knowledge from our coaches, Ms J Young and Miss K Martin. We cannot forget our scorers, especially Mrs K Cooke for assisting during her long service leave. All of these ladies were able to give up their time to direct and encourage us and we are most proud to have them as part of this sport. We ended the season with a combined dinner in the Barbara Fielding Room to celebrate our achievements and efforts.
The Open team proved to other schools that even though we lost great players, we have gained new talents that have added to the dynamics of the team that placed a most deserving equal third place. The Senior A team proved, yet again, Girls Grammar has strong and enthusiastic softballers. This was shown In their results, winning the competition for the seventh successive year. The Junior season was held at the Brisbane Softball Association fields at Downey Park. These teams gave
