“We are Mackay and you know what we got? What do we got? We got a team that’s hotter than hot!”

The focus within the House this year has been the strengthening of relationships between the year levels. We started by welcoming Year 8s into the Girls Grammar community and began developing relationships with them by means of the Years 8-12 buddy system. A new Mackay Family initiative was also trialed this year. This involved placing one girl from each year level in a group that would perform the various activities and tasks during House Assemblies, House Breakfasts and the House Party. This worked effectively in forming bonds between the various year levels. From its introduction as a House in 1998, Mackay has been known for its House spirit and now as the House grows, we continue in this tradition as well as excelling and enjoying the many Interhouse activities. The strength of Year 8 House Group has left Year 12s in no doubt that Mackay is heading for an even bigger and brighter future. They are a strong and talented House Group and a welcome addition to the Mackay community. In particular, Hannah Mullens (8) made waves in the pool and was awarded the 13

Mackay House and its angels were hot in 2006 with greater energy and House spirit than ever before. In the pool, on the track, in drama and singing, Mackay has proved to the other Houses we are a force to be reckoned with.

Years Age Champion. While on the track, Alexandra Stevens (8) ran her way to not only the 13 Years Age Champion but the joint School Athletics Champion as well. The rest of the girls provided a strong, supportive network and competed in true Mackay style. Overall the House has developed in leaps and bounds, excelling in all manner of activities, both within the House and the wider School community. The Year 12s have thoroughly enjoyed our five years in Mackay and hope the House will continue in its outstanding tradition.
